Abstract: The femoral neck fractures are the most common problem of the older age. The typical fracture associated with the older age is due to osteoporosis. Researchers worldwide have applied different techniques to estimate the risk of fracture associated with the bone density. The values of the BMD (Bone mineral density) measured for the patients are correlated to the fracture risk. But the issue of appropriate BMD normative data for Indians remains open. There is need to study the BMD- fracture relationship in Indians (fracture threshold) to determine the ideal normative data for Indian population. In this paper it was attempted to develop the method to estimate the risk factors associated with the fracture of proximal femur considering BMD along with the femur neck geometry, age related bone properties and loading encountered during the various activities and also the sensitivity analysis of the different factors affecting the risk. ased on the theory of the composite beam. The interactive computer program was developed to estimate the failure risk.
