Abstract: This paper presents a software solution to implement a displacement and angular velocity measurement for a mobile moving in a linear or circular direction. For this, a function to sensing the direction of movement is determined and also the algorithm through which is made the measurement and both are implemented using a virtual instrument built in LabVIEW. Thus it is possible to use a data acquisition boards for general use, such as PCI-6024E, which has no inputs for quadrature signals with a quadrature encoder, such as E6A2-CW5C (Omron) or HEDS – 5500 (Avago Technologies) that generates such signals.
