Abstract: This paper outlines the identification of a black box model for a real existing run off river hydro project using its basic input-output data and exhaustively including all the system complexities/ nonlinearities within the model. The system chosen as a basis for the empirical data collection is Chhukha hydro project( Bhutan). The accuracy of prediction and the adaptability of NNARX model examined. The prediction performance of NNARX and ARX models are compared. The study suggested a better hydro plant dynamic representation using NNARX model.
