Abstract: The acoustics of a church liturgical hall is an interesting study to be performed, because of the church usually relevant volume, its highly reflecting materials and especially because of its multipurpose feature: speaking, playing music, singing, silent prayer, etc.. In this paper, the authors present an experimental activity on a new built church, based on Reverberation Time measurements and optimization. The role of two lateral chapels in the overall acoustical response is highlighted. The acoustical effects induced by these two chapels, placed at the end of the transept, has been used as an advice for the mitigation intervention, designed in a predictive software framework.
