Abstract: In this paper, a new induction motor drive system with bi-directional Z-source inverter and a modified vector control scheme in improving the electric vehicles dynamic performance is studied. The influence of battery packs' voltage drop on driving performance is analyzed qualitatively under special conditions, such as electric vehicles start up and accelerate continually. By the proposed scheme, the status of the motor torque reduction due to the large voltage drop is improved, and the output of motor power while electric vehicles driving at high-speed is increased. The feasibility and effectiveness of proposed scheme are verified by the simulation and experiment results.
